Hey, my name is Nathan Heintz and I am a Downhill/AT Skier. I have been skiing for 19 years.
Pick me because: Skiing is my life and I live it to the fullest. Come ski the peak chair at whistler and watch me Back Flip the glory lines!
About Me
My ambitions plans for next winter: I want to ski bigger lines. last couple years my gear has been holding me back. But I've updated my skis, set myself up with the right crew, and I think I'm ready to hike for those lines that i dream of. Competition inspired me to climb bigger mountains and ski steeper lines. It started with slack country on Mt. Roberts, but now I really want to make touring a bigger part of my skiing. like maybe as big a part as backflips are now... wow, that's a commitment! I've always been competitive, after quitting racing I felt as If I was missing an important part of my ski life... but I found big mountain comps during the first year of uni and have never looked back. Nothing beats the adrenalin rush of stomping a line in competiton. well nothing besides thigh deep powder and crystal clear skies.... But nothing can match the semi-sick feeling in the pit of my stomach before a comp run either. pump the tunes, 'tune it all out' and visualise your line. ''Judges ready... 3-2-1 dropping'' So whats up for me next year? I need to qualify for the Subaru Freeski World Tour. I want to go to at least 4 FWT stops and finish well in the finals at all of them. As well, I want to podium at Red Resorts ''Canadian Open Freeskiing Championship'' and compete at the Fernie, Kicking Horse and Lake Louise Freeskiing comps. Hopefully I don't have to pay for my gear or 2011 could be an expensive year!!!
Why I Ski: Inspiration. I think if any one word is going to describe or explain why I ski then that would be the one. I'm inspired by snow, cliffs, and mountains. I'm inspired by getting upside down, taking off, and landing in powder. I'm inspired by the pros, the weekends warriors, and the groms. I'm a ski role model, and everyone on the mountain is a ski role model for me. I have been skiing since 1990 when I was 18 months old. My dad started my love for the mountains full throttle. It's not like I had a choice (as soon as I could walk I was on skis) but if I had than It wouldn't have been any different. Skiing became a habit and a way of life for me, and soon after the habit formed passion followed. I raced as a kid, but while I loved speed I couldn't really live in the confines of gates and rules. I was always the kid racing down the black diamonds, building jumps and hitting all the little lips on the sides of cat-tracks. When I was 12 my race coach was James Heim, he demoed a backflip for the race group and basically started the dream for me.

Hey Nathan - thanks and back at ya! You look well on your way to becoming a pro ... Cheers :)
Thanks for voting guys, gals and family! the amount of positive feedback, votes, and comments that you all dutifully posted has blown me away. I hope that I get a chance to ski with you all in the future. if you don't ski, and just like watching me huck myself of silly gnarly cliffs, then I promise that I will have a short vid up soon and a longer season recap (half park..ew, park, I know) before I leave whistler may/juneish.
I don't want to ruin the results for everybody still in this thing, but write me on facebook or give me a buzz and I'll be excited to let you know how I did. First in Comments and Vote means a lot of support where it counts people!!
Nathan you have to win this! Best skier ever, sick drops and awesome style.
Vote for Nate!
An awe-inspiring passion for skiing, a relentless zest for life, motivated, innovative, diligent to his craft, obsession and self. An energetic and enthusiastic friend, who never ceases to surprise and amaze. Nate works hard, plays harder, and deserves this!

This kid is sick!!! he is the bees knees. He has the potential to be the best. Hands down the craziest mother F**ker I know. Also a beautiful human being.
Sick Style
Nathan is such a solid skier and I have had the honor of skiing with him quite a few times. I have seen Nathan hit some of the most Gnarly cliffs a lines that are scattered around Red Mountain Resort. His fluidity and style is something that should be treasured. Not only is Nathan an amazing free skier but he is also a great guy! Someone who is constantly at the same level of positivity and always has a smile on his face. Nathan's dream is to be sponsored and I think that anyone who is lucky enough to have him shouldn't take it for granted!
I'm fortunate enough to have caught one of his crazy backflips on my phone and its something to watch and gain inspiration from. Nathan I hope that you stomp the line in your upcoming events and keep shredding it Rossland style =)
Good job, man! You definitely got the skills, now you just need the gear! When you got the time, gimme some pointers on male-modelling, cuz i'm having trouble being really really ridiculously good looking like you. Maybe you can show me how to sport winter wear as well as you do. Good luck on your merry way to stardom.
Nate is the most dedicated skier i know, always pushing himself to go bigger and ski harder. He's an awesome person to grow as a skier with cuz he enables you to push yourself. Give this guy free shit. He deserves it. I promise its not going to waste.
Nathan is by far the most talented and dedicated skier I have ever been skiing with -- thanks for some great days in Whistler and Lake Louise!
Give this man free stuff!!!
OMG!!! U ARE AN AMAZING SKIER NATHEN HEINTZ!!! Do you have room for one more groupie
Nice profile Nathan! I'm so glad I finally found out how to vote here! It's been really cool getting on the mountain with you this year and I hope you liked the footage that I shot of you on Peak chair!! my first time with a camera but you stomped all your hits so the whole thing was pretty easy!
Hey dude, unfortunately I only got to ski with you once but it was a blast! Awesome person and awesome skier!
I hope I get to see you again before I'm heading back to Germany.
Good stuff Nathan! keep up the gnar! you're making rossland proud!
Great style! SICK
Nathan Heintz....where to begin! He always has a huge smile on his face and is always really excited to get out and improve his flips and tricks so that he can show them off and show everyone what he has accomplished. He has inspired me to learn how to do a back flip off a wall and possibly one day on skis. Nathan always has a positive and inspiring attitude which he shares with everyone he sees. I'm very lucky to be one of those people that has met Nathan and I hope many more people with have that luck too. He is always there to lend a hand or an ear to a friend in need and leaves you feeling like a star. Good luck Nathan and may the best man win! :P
I just had to comment. I'm not sure what to say, but send it little brother, your one gnarly guy.
That backflip looks CRAZY!!!!
Nathan is the funnest guy I've ever skied with hands down. Why? Because he's so damn happy. And he gets really excited about putting his life in danger.
Give the prize to Nathan so he doesn't have to drive his moms car to the ski hill. His backup plan if not chosen as a winner is to become a ski patroller. This doesn't change much in his life except for the fact he still be driving his moms car to the ski hill. Wait a second nothing will change. Guess its a win win situation.
Keep shredding the GNAR no matter what kid
I only skied with Nathan once, but he was an awesome skier. He Definitely inspired me just seeing him that one time.
Super sick vid and pic!
Nathan blows my mind away with his riding, the first time I skied with him he pulled his first double backflip and hasn't looked back, I'm so impressed man!
Nathan is my hero! He has such a solid skiing technique and isn't scared to send sketch/gnarly stuff. That combined with the most positive attitude, a willingness to learn quickly, and raw natural talent makes him a very marketable skier and a very fun person to be around.
from jeff, with love.
Sick Looking Pic!!! Big upz
Skiing is practically all Nathan talks about. I have known this guy for 11 years and there is no one I know who has as big of a passion for skiing as Nathan does which is what counts. If anyone deserves to win, he does.....Good luck Nate
Yo, Nath is the bomb. Good kid, head screwed on, lives for the things we all dream of at night.
Rips hard and deserves an industry break. If any one has earned it, it's this guy. And he'll stomp a backy on your face to proove it.
Peace.
AWESOME NATHAN!!!!! You are truly amazing @ skiing!! Thats some of the most massive air ive ever seen, you are def a force to be Reckoned with. Keep it up!
So sick!
atleast i dont know anyone that deserves this more then you buddy!
keep rockin and something will open up!
Ps. gives me a little tingle to see you sending it.
Nate can shred lines with the best riders out there, as well as being the type of guy who will keep going back to toss that ridiculously big cliff until he stops that trick he wants to stomp. He's a great guy who stays positive at all times, will win the hearts of anyone and everyone he meets, as well as having great interpersonal and speaking skills. He's exactly the type of skier I would want to be sporting my logos and showing what I wanted to the world.
Nice to see some new pics Nate I look forward to your new vid!
Nathan doesn't stroll through life - he LEAPS into it with infectious enthusiasm. He is also one of the most engaging and helpful individuals that you'll ever meet - really interested in other people, really good at connecting in meaningful (and fun!) ways.
Nathan has always had a passion for skiing and being air-borne. As a 3 & 4 year old, he sang and laughed while zipping down the hills (frontwards or backwards, both ways worked fine) and ducking in and out of the trees. By 11 he was building jumps on the hill, taking gymnastics classes to improve his jumping and flipping skills, and dreaming of competing at top levels. Nathan has pursued those dreams wholeheartedly ever since - training year round, imagining new tricks, and developing new skills.
It's also true that Nathan's training, and his skiing for the sheer joy of it, has to happen around the edges of paid work. It's a challenge for a young guy to do this on his own, and sponsorship will definitely help him reach his goals.
Dear judges,
Congratulations, you just found your perfect match!
5 years ago I traveled half way around the world to become an exchange student in Nathans hometown, Rossland, BC. On the opening day of ski hill I saw Nathans love and passion for the mountains, snow and every cliff jumpable. I feel in love with him at the very first turn he made and have been in love with him ever since.
Nathan was born to ski. His dad was a ski legend, and before Nathan even could walk he was put in a pair of ski boots. Since then Nathan has lived to make love to the mountain. The last couple of years Nathan has grown unbelievably much as a big mountain skier and now he is ready both physically and mentally to become the next big big huge big mountain free skier!
Besides being and amazing skier he’s an incredible people person. Nathan gets along with every soul on the planet. Every day on the hill he shares and spreads his energy and fascination to the rest of the mountain. Not only does he inspire the park rat on the rail. He inspires the geek who is hiding in the trees, the old women on the green groomers, the little children and their parents and the real pros. with the big lines, who could only dream of making an as beautiful, stimulating and thrilling huge back flip as Nathans.
Nathan has everything you are looking for: An adventures and inspiring soul, a love and passion for the mountain that can even make me jealous, a mind-blowing skiing talent, charm, open-mindedness, a very intelligent brain and rousing writing skills.
The only thing he is missing now is your help.
Send it!
Stay tuned for a couple more Vids! As soon as I have my (girlfriends) iMovie translated from Danish to English I'm going to be putting up some footy from last week:)
Seeing someone with this amout of passion for skiing is truly inspiring, Hope you stomp the shit out of any cliff you hit!!
I've skiied with Nathan my whole life, and all I can say is, he's probably the ballsiest guy I know. He really wants this, and he deserves it. MAD PROPS
This kid's got what it takes.
If Nathan stops trying to do flippy spinny things in competition he'll definitely make the podium at Louise!
What can I say.... I've only been skiing with Nathan for a couple months now, but its easy to see that he KILLS IT! Skiing with him truly inspires me and pushes me to find the edge of my limits. Anything big and burly and you know he wants to huck off it....spectators dream. He's a good guy and an awesome freeride skier...he deserves this.
WELL DONE! Nathan, good luck with the competition and lets ride soon ;)
That looks sic, inspires me to go do a few things myself.
We haven't heard anything from Nate's mouth for the last couple years except: backflips, sex, and I want to get sponsored. This kid is pretty rad, grew up in Rossland and now calls Whistler home. He is awesome at doing backflips, has a cute girlfriend and now just needs a sponsor to help him with this expensive habit of entering ski comps so he can throw down big lines. I watched him huck Air Jordan at Whistler this past winter and he threw down a pretty sweet back flip off a cliff at the IFSA 'World Championships' @ Snowbird in Utah this past month. So he deserves this.
